This tutorial will show you how to create a basic logo for your web site or company.


1. Create a new document in Photoshop 350px by 350px. Use the fill tool and set the background colour to #1a1923.





2. Using the Eliptical marquee tool draw a circle on your page, slightly to the left. Create a new layer by going to Layer >> New Layer and call it "circle". Then using the fill tool fill the circle in with white.





3. Now select the Eliptical marquee tool again and at the top of Photoshop set the Style to fixed. Then set the width and height to 300px.





4. Now click on your page and make the selection as follows.






5. Then hold down Alt on your keyboard and then click and drag the selected circle to make the following moon like shape. When you release the mouse button it should deselect most of your original circle and leave you with a moon shape.






6. Now using the rectangular marquee tool hold down alt and deselect everything but the white circle. You should end up with the following selection.






7. Create a new layer and call it "cover". Now fill it in with white using the fill tool. Right click on your "circle" layer and go to blending options. Then select stroke and give it the following.








8. Then select gradient overlay on the left and use the following settings. The gradients left colour is #9799ee and the right colour is #492774.








9. Click OK. You should now have the following.







10. Right click on your "cover" layer and then select stroke. Give it the following settings.







11. Select gradient overlay from the left and use the following settings. The gradient goes from #ffff00 to #ffa000.






12. Click OK. Your image should now look something like this.






13. Now select the text tool and click on the right of your logo. From the Character window (Window >> Character) pick a font of your choice. Im using "Berlin Sans FB" with white text. Then just type in the name of your web site/company.








14. Again using the text tool click just beneath your web site/company name and type in a slogan. I recommend doing this in capital letters.







15. Right click on your first text layer (web site/company name) and go to blending options. Then select gradient overlay and use the following settings. The gradient goes from black to white.








16. Click OK. You should then end up with something similar to the following. And thats it - finished.
